Why do you talk so often about using non-dairy ingredients?
Well, because I keep kosher, I can't serve a dairy dessert at a meat meal. Therefore I like to keep dairy products out of my baked goods, so that I can enjoy them any time of day with no worries.
Where do your pictures come from?
I take them! Every photo on this site comes from my camera, and just about every one was taken in my kitchen.
Can I use your pictures?
Well, it really depends. Maybe - but you have to ask first. I don't like seeing my work somewhere else without permission. So send me an e-mail! bakingandmistaking[at]gmail[dot]com.
What kind of camera do you use?
It's a basic old point and shoot. Really simple. And cheap. Therefore it met the two requirements.
Where do you get your recipes from?
Just about everywhere. Cookbooks, websites, other blogs, the deep, dark recesses of my brain...
Who gets to eat everything you bake?
Ha! Me, obviously. Coworkers, friends, and family most of the time. Occasionally strangers.

Do you have any training?
When I started, no. But in 2011 I took a 6-month pastry course that taught me some very interesting things. Mostly I still like to bake more simple recipes, but when I have time its fun to pull out the recipe for a 7-layer petit four and get working.
